I am a researcher at the University of Freiburg in Germany and the Bern University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland. I have a multidisciplinary background in agriculture (BSc), forestry (MSc) as well as geography and sustainable development (PhD). My research interests lie in tropical forest landscape dynamics and the role of local communities, including topics around tenurial rights, local management practices, livelihoods, ecosystem services, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. I have worked extensively in Southeast Asia (particularly Myanmar) and West Africa. My current research focuses on the links between community forestry and socio-ecological resilience.
