Professor, University of the Philippines School of Urban and Regional Planning

Dr. Mario Delos Reyes is a Professor and former Dean (June 2012 - February 2019) at the University of the Philippines School of Urban and Regional Planning (UP SURP), Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. Likewise, he was a former President of the UP Planning and Development Research Foundation, Inc. (PLANADES), the foundation arm of UP SURP. He wrote several articles in journals, book chapters and a book and had conducted research projects and consultancy for international organizations to include the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, AUSAID, IDRC, UN-HABITAT and UNESCAP on environmental planning and management and related fields.

Prof. Delos Reyes is currently the International Co-Investigator and In-Country Lead Investigator for the Philippines of the Centre for Sustainable, Healthy, and Learning Cities and Neighbourhoods, a 4-year project supported by the Global Challenges Research Fund of the UK Research and Innovation. He is a long-term Asia-Pacific Representative of the Steering Committee for the UN Habitat Partner Universities Initiative or UNI, and the Advisory Board member of the UN HABITAT Philippines. Recently, he is a member of the Regional Development Council for Metro Manila representing the academe and NGOs.

He finished his Doctorate Degree in Natural Science at the Institute of Geography, University of Hamburg; Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education and International Development at the University of Kassel both in Germany; and graduated with Master and Bachelor degrees both at the University of the Philippines. He received the 2016 Meritorious Public Service Award in the field of environmental governance given by the President of the University of the Philippines and approved by the UP Board of Regents.
