Darwin is interested in nature based solutions as a focused approach to enhancing resilience in the fields of urban design and development and disaster reduction and recovery. In particular Darwin is interested in the governance and social processes that enable implementation of effective nature base solutions. Through his involvement in the International Union for Conservation of Nature - Committee for Ecosystem Management, Resilience Theme Group and the School of Environmental Planning, University of Northern British Columbia, Darwin researches the more applied nature of resilience and responsible communities as seen through a socioecological lens.
