My research is currently focused on assessing regime shifts and ecosystem resilience to environmental change in shallow lakes, using a combination of long term field data, computer modelling and laboratory mesocosms. Currently my research is focused on testing and improving statistical Early Warning indicators using the Loch Leven long term data set. This research will then help target lab experiments and computer simulations to better understand the relationship between ecosystem processes, regime shifts and resilience.

Key research Interests: Ecological resilience, Regime shifts, Early warning indicators,pressure-response relationships
