Academic stuff, R&D worker, VSB - Technical University of Ostrava / Faculty of Safety Engineering / Laboratory of Risk Research and Management
I am an academic, interested in R&D work as well, especialy in the fields of risk analysis and management of selected industrial and natural risks, multi-hazards, NATECHs, Industrial Safety, Analytical Chemistry, Security Informatics, Application of geographic information systems (GIS).
I have the honor to participate (or to manage) on more than 10 international and national projects, including wide cooperation with Czech national governance bodies (Ministry of Environment - topics connected to emergency planning, crisis risks, risk governance, protection of the citizens + the environment) and with the industrial facilities (major accident hazards prevention - SEVESO Directive II, III).
Like 2 years ago, within the frame of preparation of support materials for new Czech Conception of Environmental Security, I was newly impressed by basic resilience principles, resilient thinking etc., as a possibility, how to improve resilience of citizens, cities, communities regarding disaster risks.
Key research Interests: Risk Analysis and Management, Disaster Risk Reduction (including Adaptation to Climate Change); Building Resilience, Risk Governance, Environmental Engineering, GIS.
